As we begin 2018 the Canandaigua Botanical Society will be finishing our 143rd year and planning for our 144th year.

Canandaigua Botanical Society Record Archiving
Before Melissa Virag's passing in December, she had been working to archive our Canandaigua Botanical Society records dating back to 1874.  In her honor, we will work with Ontario County Historical Society to do right by the Botanical Society records.   They are currently in the skilled hands of Wilma Townsend at the OCHS.
Our 143rd year continues on and includes:
Saturday, March 24, 2018: How Plants Reproduce with Sandra Bierbrauer at FLCC
Saturday, April 14, 2018: FLCC Arboretum and Early Spring Blooms at Lincoln Woods with Berna Ticonchuk
Saturday, April 21, 2018: Spring Wildflower walk with our Burroughs Audubon Nature Center friends at Harris Whalen Park in Penfield lead by Annette Leopard
Friday, April 27, 2018: National Arbor Day Tree Planting by the Canandaigua City Arborist.  This will begin at 1 PM at Lakefront Park east of Kershaw Park.  This year's tree will be planted in honor of Melissa Virag who was also a member of the Canandaigua Tree City USA Tree Advisory Board.
Friday, April 27, 2018; 6 PM - Annual Potluck Dinner,  meeting, and Effects of Climate Change with Cornell Cooperative Extension's Russ Welser at Saint John's Episcopal Church in Canandaigua

Planning for our 144th year will begin soon.
We will meet at Wood Library on February 22nd at 2 PM and 6 PM.  Please join us if you'd like to participate in the planning of our 2018-19 program.  The position of presidency is also available to consider.  If you are not interested in meeting but have ideas for what you would like to see happen (walks or talks you'd like to lead or attend) please let us know as soon as possible by dropping an email to CanandaiguaBotanical@gmail.com
