Plein Air among the Bluebells

  Bluebells Plein Air

Sunday, May 7, 2017 between 1:00 and 3:00 PM
PLEIN AIR BLUEBELLS (FOR MOTHER’S DAY!)
Mertensia Park, Farmington
Please plan to join us for our third annual PLEIN AIR BLUEBELLS event at Mertensia Park.  Generally held on Mother's Day we are meeting a week early as the bluebells are likely to be in full bloom by May 7th.  (Bethan and I did a check on Saturday, April 29th and found several mertensia in bloom with trout lily, blood root, colt's foot, garlic mustard, May apples, false solomon's seal, violets, and jack-in-the-pulpit). We will provide the paper, paints, pallets, and brushes to capture your artistic view of the mertansia (bluebells) and other spring wildflowers along Mud Creek.
* Please bring along an easel if you have one and something to sit on if you wish. *
Directions: Drive north on Route 332 and take a left onto County Road 41 (Speedway station).  Drive west on CR 41 about 1 mile and take a right turn on Mertensia Road.  Turn left down into Mertensia Park.  The bluebells are behind the tennis courts.  (Mertensia Road may be closed just north of the park entrance so please plan to access Mertensia Park by the south end of Mertensia Road.)

UPDATE:  A week prior to our Plein Air this is how the bluebells looked.  May 7th should be near peek.

And the Jack in the Pulpit may be blooming as well...
May 7, 2017...
