The Canandaigua Botanical Society and the Canandaigua City
Tree Advisory Board will be joining together to share information on Saturday, November
18, 2017. We will meet in Finger Lakes
Community College room 2640 at 10:00 AM.
Canandaigua has been a TREE CITY USA for 25 years and has had
a Canandaigua Tree Advisory Board to advocate for our trees since 2011. In addition to learning about how the TAB
members advocate for our trees, Berna Ticonchuk will teach us the importance of
properly mulching around trees. Come find
out about the new Canandaigua Heritage Tree program!
We’ll have information about the Canandaigua Botanical
Society which was established 143 years ago. Learn about who we are and what we do as well
as where we are headed in the future.
Discover local areas of botanical interest and then make plans to
explore them.
All are welcome and snacks will be provided. Canandaigua Botanical Society and Tree Advisory Board members are encouraged to share their insights and experiences. (If you happen to be a fifth-grade student you
are eligible to enter the New York State Department of Conservation’s National
Arbor Day poster contest with the theme of Trees for Bees.)
Directions to FLCC 2640 (old C220): The easiest way to locate room 2640 will be to park in the southeast corner of the main parking lot "A" of FLCC. Walk along Laker Lane on the sidewalk to the east side of the Student Center. Enter the building at the SECOND (southeast) entrance (building 8) just past the loading dock "C". Look for signs at the southeast corner of the parking lot and near the blue light to turn to enter the building. If entering from the main entrance follow signs up the staircase and to the right.
**Melissa Virag's Canandaigua Botanical Cultural History is
postponed until a future date.**
