TWO BOTANICAL EVENTS IN JULY



CELEBRATE ORGANIC SEEDS

10 am on Saturday, July 27, 2013

Petra Page-Mann has invited us to celebrate Fruition Seeds’ local and organic seed production at their Field Day.  There will be tours, hands-on seed cleaning, and lots of taste-testing all day long.  See what it’s all about at http://www.fruitionseeds.com/.

Carpool from the Sly Street parking lot at 9:15 am or meet at the farm: 7970 Hickory Bottom Road just outside Naples, NY.  Take NY 21 south through Naples and make a slight right onto Co. Rt. 36/Clark Street (Hunt Hollow Road).  Take first right onto Gulick Road and then a left onto Hickory Bottom Road.  Fruition Seeds will be on the left.


UNIQUE FLOWER GARDENS 

10 am on Saturday July 20, 2013

Michael Hannen who gave us a demonstration on cultivating plants at the new Nazareth College greenhouse is opening his gardens to us at 10 am for a tour of unique botanical species. 

Please join us by carpooling from the Sly Street parking lot behind the Ontario County Court house at 9:30 am or meet us at Michael’s home at 10 am.  To get to Michael’s home travel north on 332 then west on the NYS Thruway 90 to 490 West.  Take 490 W to exit 18 NY31/Monroe Ave.  Make a sharp left onto Monroe Ave and then a right onto Laburnam Crescent.  Park along the street near 171 Laburnam Crescent which is the last house on the right just before the Field Street Park also on the right.  If you get to Pinnacle Road, you’ve gone too far.
