Finger Lakes Trail: Huckleberry Bog

On Saturday, May 30, 2026 we will make a trip to Huckleberry Bog on Bean Station Road south of Prattsburg, NY. This is an all day botanizing event. There is a half mile uphill trail to get to the 3.5 mile loop trail around Huckleberry Bog - and then the descent on the same trail back to the vehicles on Bean Station Road. We will plan to meet at the trail head at 10 AM and will likely be walking until 2 or 3 PM. Please pack a lunch or substantial snacks and water. A hiking pole is also recommended.
There was no need to cancel this adventure as there were only a few drops of rain at the very beginning of our accent up to Huckleberry Bog. Fifteen people began the trail together. For most, this was their first time to this section of the Finger Lakes Trail.

The trailhead is on the south side of the road between 7800 and 7818 Bean Station Road, Hammondsport, NY. Look for Canandaigua Botanical signs. Parking is along the north side of Bean Station Road. (42.47789, -77.24228)
Travel directions from Naples, NY: Head south on 21 following South Main Street and bear left onto NY53 through Prattsburg. Continue on 53 to Bean Station Road (after Waldo and across from Early Rd). Turn left onto Bean Station Road and drive just over 2.6 miles. The trailhead will be on your right marked by a CEMETERY road sign at a wooden Finger Lakes Trail bridge:
