CITY OF CANANDAIGUA CELEBRATES 33RD CONSECUTIVE YEAR AS TREE CITY USA AND ANNOUNCES 2026 ARBOR DAY CELEBRATION
The Arbor Day Foundation has once again recognized the City of Canandaigua as a Tree City USA community, marking the City’s 33rd consecutive year of earning this national distinction. The recognition honors Canandaigua’s continued commitment to planting, growing, and maintaining trees to benefit its residents and enhance the local environment. The Tree City USA program recognizes communities that prioritize urban forestry through sustainable practices, community engagement, and long-term investment in their tree canopy. Canandaigua’s ongoing efforts contribute to improved air quality, reduced storm water runoff, increased property values, and enhanced quality of life for residents.To celebrate this achievement and the importance of trees in the community, the City of Canandaigua will host its 2026 Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 24 at 1:00 PM at the circle on the City Pier.Community members are invited to join City staff, the City Tree Advisory Board, and representatives of City Council for a ceremonial tree planting. This year’s event will feature the planting of a White Spruce, symbolizing growth, resilience, and the City’s enduring commitment to its urban forest.
