TENDING NATURE SPEAKER SERIES

I found this on facebook and thought you might appreciate it.

Ohio State is hosting a native plants and biodiversity lecture series on Friday mornings.
Registration is required and available at this link

I was able to "attend" the January 21st session and received this link which includes the recordings of the first three speakers.   http://go.osu.edu/tendingnature

What a wonderful way to learn more and enjoy nature from the warmth of our homes on these COLD winter days.

Is anyone here familiar with Wild Ones?

Confirmed: Second Oldest Botanical Society in the USA

I am thankful to longtime Canandaigua Botanical Society member, Helen Ellis, who shared a large envelope of Botanical Society newspaper clippings, letters, and documents to include to our archives at the Ontario County Historical Society.  Within the envelope was this 1934 letter to help confirm that we are indeed the "second oldest botanical society in the USA".  I did some quick online research and discovered that the other organizations mentioned (with the exception of Torrey) no longer exist.  Torrey Botanical Society, which is largely professional, still remains active today.  In that case, we can proudly confirm that the Canandaigua Botanical Society is the oldest "amateur" botanical society (and still second oldest) in the US.
